FOOD FOR THE SOUL

Kenya

The journey of the Kibera school begins in 1998 with a handful of people joining together to worship. Within a year, 7 people meeting in a couple’s home grew into a larger congregation with their own church space. One of the important ministries of this group was feeding the children of the surrounding slum neighbourhood within Nairobi. These children started attending Sunday school and learning about God. The church grew from the love of Christ shown through this community!

Eventually, the church desired to do more than simply feed these children’s bodies. They desired to feed their souls and to develop their whole being. And so the Kibera ICCM school was formed! Starting as a preschool and adding new grades each year- now the Kibera school has many students which sit for the national elementary exam every year. The dedication of the church members who volunteered, taught, and cared for the children without ever being paid has led to this school flourishing from the small seed planted many years ago and so praise be to God!
